Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 4, 2026
Last updated: April 4, 2026

Alineo is provided by Matthew Glossop (“I,” “me,” or “my”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored, and disclosed when you use the Alineo app (the “App”).

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information the App Processes

Alineo is designed to help you plan your days, goals, tasks, and routines. Depending on how you use the App, the App may process the following categories of information.

A. Information you create in the App

When you use Alineo, the App may store information such as:

  • goals, tasks, notes, planner entries, review entries, priorities, templates, and other planner content you create

  • progress, completion status, points, streaks, and related planner state

  • app preferences and settings

B. Calendar information

If you choose to grant calendar access, Alineo may read calendar data from your device so it can show events on your daily timeline and help you plan around your existing commitments.

This may include:

  • event titles

  • dates and times

  • calendar identifiers

  • related calendar metadata available through Apple’s calendar framework

Calendar access is optional and is only used if you choose to enable calendar integration.

C. Reminders information

If you choose to grant reminders access, Alineo may read reminders from your device so it can show due items in your planner and help you organize them alongside your schedule.

If you choose to use reminder completion features, Alineo may also update reminder completion status in Apple Reminders on your device.

Reminders access is optional and is only used if you choose to enable reminders integration.

D. iCloud / CloudKit sync data

If iCloud sync is enabled and available on your device, Alineo may sync your planner data through Apple’s iCloud / CloudKit services so your data can remain available across supported installations of the App connected to the same Apple account.

Synced data may include planner content and related metadata necessary to support sync, conflict handling, updates, deletions, and restore behavior.

E. Backup and restore files

If you export a backup, the App may create a backup file containing your planner data so you can store it and restore it later.

F. Device and app diagnostic information

Alineo may store limited local diagnostic or sync-status information inside the App to help it function properly, such as authorization state, sync state, timestamps, counts, and error messages.

2. How Information Is Used

Information processed by the App is used to:

  • provide the core planning and productivity features of Alineo

  • save and display the planner data you create

  • import and display calendar events if you grant calendar access

  • import, display, and optionally update reminders if you grant reminders access

  • sync your planner data with iCloud / CloudKit if sync is enabled

  • support backup, export, import, and restore functionality

  • maintain app state, diagnose sync or integration issues, and improve reliability

3. Legal Bases for Processing

If you are located in a jurisdiction that requires a legal basis for processing, processing generally relies on:

  • your consent, when you choose to grant Calendar or Reminders permissions

  • performance of a contract, to provide the App features you use

  • legitimate interests, to maintain app functionality, reliability, and data integrity

You may withdraw permission-based access at any time through your device settings.

4. How Information Is Stored

Alineo is designed to store planner data locally on your device.

If you enable or use iCloud sync, relevant planner data may also be stored and synchronized through Apple’s iCloud / CloudKit services, subject to Apple’s terms and privacy practices.

If you export a backup, the exported backup file is stored wherever you choose to save it.

5. How Information Is Shared

Your personal information is not sold.

Planner data is not shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

The App may rely on Apple services to provide certain functionality, including:

  • Apple Calendar / EventKit access

  • Apple Reminders / EventKit access

  • iCloud / CloudKit sync

  • file export and import features provided through Apple’s platform frameworks

Information processed through those Apple services is subject to Apple’s own privacy practices and terms.

Information may also be disclosed if required by law, regulation, legal process, or valid governmental request.

Alineo does not use third-party advertising SDKs, does not sell personal information, and does not use your planner data for cross-app or cross-site tracking.

6. Calendar and Reminders Permissions

Calendar and Reminders access is optional.

You can use Alineo without granting one or both of these permissions, but some features may not function fully.

If you deny access:

  • the App should still open and function for non-integrated features

  • calendar- or reminders-based features may be unavailable until access is granted

You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings.

7. iCloud Sync

If iCloud sync is available and enabled, Alineo may sync your planner data through Apple CloudKit.

Please note:

  • sync requires a compatible Apple account and iCloud availability on your device

  • synced records may include planner content and metadata needed to support updates, deletions, and conflict resolution

  • if you disable iCloud access for the App, syncing may stop, but locally stored data may remain on your device unless you delete the App or its local data

8. Backup Files

If you export a backup file, that file may contain your planner data in portable form.

You are responsible for how you store, share, transmit, or retain any exported backup files outside the App. Backup files should be stored securely.

9. Data Retention

Information is retained for as long as necessary to provide the App’s functionality, unless you delete it.

In practice:

  • locally stored planner data remains on your device until you delete it, delete the App, or overwrite it through restore or related actions

  • iCloud-synced data may remain in Apple’s CloudKit environment until deleted through the App’s sync behavior or according to Apple’s service behavior

  • exported backup files remain wherever you save them until you delete them

10. Your Choices and Controls

Depending on how you use the App, you may be able to:

  • create, edit, or delete planner data inside the App

  • grant or revoke Calendar access

  • grant or revoke Reminders access

  • enable or disable iCloud access for the App through device settings

  • export backup files

  • restore data from backup files

  • delete the App from your device

If you revoke permissions, some features may stop working as intended.

Because Alineo stores planner data locally on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud/CloudKit account, you can delete planner data through the App, delete the App from your device, disable iCloud access, or delete exported backup files wherever you have saved them. If you need help understanding or managing deletion options, contact matt.glossop1@gmail.com .

11. Children’s Privacy

Alineo is not directed to children under 13, and personal information is not knowingly collected from children under 13 through the App.

If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App inappropriately, contact matt.glossop1@gmail.com

12. International Users

If you use the App outside the country where I am based, your information may be processed on your device and through Apple services that may store or process data in other jurisdictions, depending on Apple’s infrastructure and your settings.

13. Security

Reasonable steps are taken to protect information processed by the App. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

Your data security also depends on:

  • the security of your device

  • the security of your Apple account

  • whether you enable iCloud sync

  • how you store exported backup files

14. Third-Party Services

The App may rely on Apple platform services and frameworks to provide functionality, including Calendar, Reminders, file handling, and iCloud / CloudKit sync.

You should review Apple’s privacy information to understand how Apple handles data processed through its services.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. If material changes are made, the “Last updated” date above will be revised and additional notice may be provided where appropriate.

Continued use of the App after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means you accept the revised policy.
